Male patient with respiratory distress en route to hospital

A 59-year-old male experienced respiratory distress and worsening mental status. He had shortness of breath and blue lips earlier. On arrival, he had very limited air movement in his lungs and was on CPAP therapy. He has a history of congestive heart failure and was due for dialysis. His condition deteriorated, requiring assisted ventilation. Vital signs included low oxygen saturation and high blood pressure. Medical personnel were attempting to establish IV access during transport to the hospital.
