As discussed during the dispatch call, fire crews responded to a multi-story residential building near Fourth Street SE and South Connecticut Avenue in Mason City after reports of smoke in the garbage chute. Crews located smoldering debris and light smoke near the chute’s base and sixth floor. The fire was contained and checked for extension to other parts of the building. No injuries were reported, and maintenance staff were contacted to assist.
